Our Non-Medical Help servicesAll nine DSA-funded Non-Medical Help services from Pathways International — notetaking, STTR, sighted guide, mobility training, SSP support, study skills and mentoring.

Specialist Notetaking (SN-D / SN-VI, Band 3) — A qualified specialist notetaker sits alongside you in lectures, seminars, labs and placements and produces a complete, accurate written record of everything that matters — so you can concentrate on understanding rather than capturing.

Speech to Text Reporting (STTR, Band 3) — A Speech to Text Reporter produces a live, near-verbatim text stream of everything being said, so you can read the lecture as it happens and keep a full transcript afterwards.

Sighted Guide (SG, Band 1) — A sighted guide helps you move safely and confidently around campus and off-site teaching locations, using recognised guiding technique and following your lead at all times.

Mobility Training (MT, Band 3) — Mobility training teaches you the routes and techniques you need to travel your campus and your commute independently, so that guiding support becomes something you choose rather than something you depend on.

Specialist Support Professional — Vision Impairment (SSP-VI, Band 3) — An SSP-VI works one-to-one with you on the academic impact of a vision impairment: getting course material into a format you can actually use, and building strategies for reading, research and assessment.

Specialist Support Professional — Deaf (SSP-D, Band 3) — An SSP-D provides specialist one-to-one academic support for deaf and hard of hearing students, focusing on the parts of university study that depend on hearing and on written academic English.

Specialist Support Professional — Multi-Sensory Impairment (SSP-MSI, Band 3) — SSP-MSI support is for students with combined sight and hearing loss, where no single access solution is enough and the support has to be designed around the individual.

Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support (SpLD) (SS-SpLD, Band 4) — Specialist study skills support helps students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and other specific learning differences build the academic strategies that university assumes you already have.

Specialist Mentoring (SM, Band 4) — Specialist mentoring is structured one-to-one support that helps students manage the impact of a mental health condition or autism on their studies, so that difficult periods do not turn into withdrawal.
